Good Ol' Capitalism

Image
“I’m robbing Peter to pay Paul,” Mother always said. Always frustrated. Everyone thinks they’re going to do better than their parents until the rubber meets the road.  Now there’s too much month at the end of the money, and I’m not even keeping up with the Joneses.  I thought I was going to be famous . I thought EVERYTHING was going to be my ticket out of that small town I spent my first 23 years in. I spent hundreds of dollars on materials. My way of thinking was if a craft wasn’t made to sell, there was no point in the hobby.  Good old capitalism. Everything has always been about money. I was barefoot in my grandma’s front yard one day, wearing nothing but a diaper. I was CERTAIN I could sell my new “invention” …. Spoiler Alert: that “invention” was nothing more than Grandma’s yarn scraps wound around twigs from her yard.  All the while, I was knee-high to a grasshopper.  The drive never really went away. I mean, I was lazy—don’t get me wrong. I didn’t w...

Echo's Away

Image
Good morning, Kindergothlings.  It has been a week from hell, pretty much.  And not the fun hell where there's friends.  The hell where you find the single patch of ice between work and home and end up in a ditch...and then the neighbors yard...and mailbox....it was a Monday. So, yeah.  Echo's went to the garage today.  All I can say is thank goodness for Progressive...Something told me this was going to happen though.  I literally switched my Insurance days before it happened.  And that morning, I bought 2 pints of ice cream in case I had a bad day.. One more photo has to be submitted to Progressive to get the ball rolling on my estimate and then repairs...The bumper, which is no longer attached and is now in the back of my Dad's truck. Just goes to show that psychic doesn't mean seeing the exact future, that's for damn sure.  But, I did see enough to save me $1500, and that's good enough for me.  There are going to be more posts co...

Farewell to Warped Tour

Image
Well, here it is folks--a farewell to Warped Tour, a statement I was hoping I wouldn't have to make for at least a few more years.  Now, while I'd love to be front and center here, I just don't think it's going to happen---but I'll get to that in a bit.   First things first, it looks like MCR is going to dissappoint us again, MCRX Style...the past couple months the web has been buzzing with rumors of an MCR reunion for this FINAL full-country run of WT.  But, no--at least not yet... But, probably not ever.  When the band list was released a few days ago, I was still blown away.  Here's a couple that caught my eye: 3OH!3 - Man, I have listened to them in a Minute!  Back when Fuse and MTV actually played music! Asking Alexandria - Just got through seeing them live. Even without Ben Bruce, it was a great show--I'd love to see them play again. Falling in Reverse - Another I'd love to see again! MOTIONLESS IN WHITE-   Dayums!  Palay...

Sunday Morning Rambles

Image
Goodmorning, kindergothlings.  Hope all is well.  Currently, I’m dealing with a terrible headache!  And, following last night’s storm, the power keeps going on and off! Great!  Which means no wifi, and the house gets creepily quiet.   As I mentioned in my last post which, I believe, was my Resurrection Tour Review, I’ve started writing a vampire novel.  The working title is “Modyrn Vamp” and essentially it is a family of vampires that grow tired of immortality and enter into a suicide pact with one another. Now, normally I don’t post on Sundays--nothing religious or anything, I had just wanted to stick to some sort of schedule, but figured I’d missed enough posts in the past few weeks that routine kind of went out the window. So, I just wanted to check in to say that TKE wasn’t blown away by the tornadoes.  There were, however, two deaths reported in a nearby county at the start of the storm.  This caused me to call out from work because ...

The Resurrection Tour hits Music City

Image
I apologize for the late post.  I have sat down to write this feature NINE THOUSAND TIMES.  There have been holidays and festivities and babies to sit on..Wait, nevermind.  Also, its chemo week--so everythings feeling kind of off for us here.  Finally ,you live under a rock, you may not know.  BUT, Draven and I checked a few items off of our bucketlist last week when we got to meet BLACK VEIL BRIDES! THE SET-UP So, the show was at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, which is one of my favorite Venues.  For more details on that, as well as their official website - Click here to see my last concert post from MMW.  We arrived at the venue at about 3:15.  *Free Parking* So, that was a bonus over the last show.  General Admission doors were to open at 5:30.  We entered around 4 and were given our VIP laminates, tote bags, and signed posters.  Then, quick AF VIP photos taken by the one and only Matt Yanni (Andy Black's bodyguard)...

Magickal Saturday Update.

Image
Good morning, guys.  I feel like I haven't slept in two days...and I didn't go to work last night for that reason.  I had two good days off, but I got my sleeping pattern all fucked up.   I went Thursday with Draven to get tattooed at my new favorite shop.  Honestly, unless I'm travelling, I don't intend on ever going to any other artists.  The people at Twisted Image are fantastic, and always make it the best experience.  Seriously, come for the tattoos, stay for the tiny glow-in-the-dark dick magnets. We got matching tattoos..because we're twins-yet somehow it's taken us this long to get matching tattoos.  They are lyrics from the Motionless in White song "Reincarnate." "Crawling from hell, falling from Grace"  Amazing work as always by Otha King at Twisted Image.  Click the link to check out the shop's page and some of their work. Anyway, I digress.  I was supposed to go back to work on Friday.  For which I would n...

Resurrection Tour Preview

Image
As I'm sure you know, if you've been anywhere near me or my social media in the last few months, my Black Veil babes are coming to town! TUESDAY!  It's almost here and I feel like I'm gonna pass out. BUT, in 7 short days, Draven & I will be at the epic Marathon Music Works taking part in the Resurrection Tour. Black Veil Brides IF you live under a rock, or have a terrible taste in music: 1. Why are you here? and 2.  Black Veil Brides is 5-member Alt-Rock band out of Los Angeles.  To date, they have 5 studio albums and 1 EP.  The band consists of Andy Biersack, Ashley Purdy, Christian (CC) Coma, Jake Pitts, and Jinxx Ferguson.  I now have the autographs of all 5 members tattooed on me after receiving an autographed copy of "Vale." Asking Alexandria I was first introduced to AA by interviews from Bryan Stars and Andy Biersack in which vocalist Danny Worsnop chimed his adorable british-ness in.  Asking Alexandria is an English rock band Crown...

15 Names to Fuel Your Gothic Infant Furor

Image
So...yeah, "Baby Fever,"......but for Goths.. And I will first note that I am in no way referring to a "Baby Hitler" Furor - To paraphrase Google:  a public outbreak of excitement/craze Führer - a ruthless, tyrannical leader. so umm... Hitler Good afternoon, Kindergothlings. I am lying here watching Ask A Mortician and something weird has flipped in my brain.   A new baby has entered our lives.  Mi Madre has started looking after my Aunt’s newborn.  When I look at him I honestly want to cry.  He is the cutest thing.  Like, I’ve always liked babies, but seeing this baby physically hurts my soul xD I know that sounds crazy, but I guess this is just like a quarter-life crisis when I realize babies are cute. So, in my down time today while re-dying my hair, I was pinteresting, fueling my “baby fever” and compiling a small list of baby names that interest me: Matilda - brave in war, swedish..But, isn’t this the name of ...

New Resolutions!

Image
Guten Morgen, Kindergothlings!  Rare, rare indeed: A Monday post!  Wait, it is Monday...isn’t it? Oh the joys of working third shift.  I t’s been a long day, and it’s only 1pm ..Also, its snowing! ugh! Anyways...with almost a whole month of 2018 under our belts, I’ve been thinking a lot about new resolutions.  Screw dieting or saving money (we can’t take it with us to our new-age-y burial pods, can we?)  Well, my resolution for 2018 is just to do more.   More time taking care of myself, more time with my family, more cool awesome shows and events in general....so that's what I'm gonna focus on today. Today’s post is kind of a “bucketlist” of shows and events for the year.  Some I won’t dare to miss, other's I know I'm not going to make but want to include because I'd love to be there. We're going to start off with one of my new favorite venues: Marathon Music Works.  The place is HUGE and is some of ...

Fridge-y Friday Realness

Image
Sorry for the lack of posts guys.  It's been a long weekend, but I am back to work.  Running on very little sleep, unfortunately.  Thursday night we came home to the smell of burning wires, and it took about 4 hours for us to realize what it was after unplugging just about everything in our kitchen.  It was our side-by-side fridge..smoking.  I'm definitely going to miss its water/ice in the door..even though for the past few months the ice maker stopped working. We had to replace it with a less-than-glamorous counterpart.  But the worst part was the install, they pretty much waiting until I had to go to sleep for work to start running air compressors and hammering down floorboards (since fridge 2 is considerably smaller)  I got MAYBE 4 hours of sleep...it was rough. But my days off were good.  I got to spend the whole day Thursday with my parents, which I love.  Treated them to lunch, got my hair cut (colored it myself)  did a bit o...

Lasts throughout the Ages

Actual Family photo, circa 1919/1920.  My Great-Grandfather and his sister are the children with his mother and grandmother.  So crazy that I stumbled upon this on Ancestry.com #NotSpons #Killthevibes Good morning Kindergothlings!  Sorry for the lack of posts this week, I feel like the last few days absolutely flew by.   There’s a flu epidemic, and a government shutdown so, hellooo apocalypse! People who have been in the country their entire lives are literally being taken away from their families.  WAKE UP AMERICA.  This is a modern holocaust.   My Black Veil babes said it perfectly..WAKE UP. Ugh, sorry.  Watching the news makes me so sad... In other news, my Chromebook arrived, along with my copies of “Vale,” and my Avelina De Moray x Black Friday Handbag.  All of those are coming in a Haul Pt. 2 post soon!  Today, I want to talk about something a bit different I have taken it upon myself to be the historian of...
