Finding "Goth"

Image
Good Morning, Kindergothlings. Oh boy, do I have a rant. But, I will be nice and save that for Instagram...Twitter just isn't enough characters... So, settle in for a bit of a lengthy post for Samhain.... Baelfire Today, I get to introduce you to one of my favorite people, Baelfire, which, outside of cringe-y TV shows, is the Celtic Pagan word for Beltane celebration bonfires. I’ve known her for about...19 years I believe, and it feels so insane to say...well, type that out.   We were “Goth” before any of us even knew what that was.  It wasn’t like we Google to see what clique we should join, we just existed.  Being raised in a very small town, I can’t say we started out playing The Cure on repeat, or cooing over Peter Murphy’s cheekbones, but it was a trip.   Junior High is when we realized we were in our own little section of the world, hating all the other humans, watching “The Craft” and “The Little Vampire.” Now, I get that movie isn’t particularly “goth

Social Repose+ @ The Rocketown (10.27.17)

There are few things more fun than getting ready for a rock show with some of my favorite people.  Draven & I before leaving the house. T HE SET-UP This white building of the Rocketown complex is a small, very garage-band-vibe venue.  No hate, very cool!  No worries with bringing in cameras or bags, everything was checked.  No re-entry was a bit lame, as well as not even being able to bring cigarettes in, even an unopened pack.  Like all you had to say was no smoking/no-reentry.  We really have to walk them all the way back to the car?  Parking: super easy, nice big lot in between the main building and where we were, so we didn’t have to walk a mile in the rain.  Price did suck, for 4 hours-it was $20.  Even for Falling in Reverse, the whole night was only $10. We got a bit lost getting there, so we showed up about 30 minutes after doors and Cross Your Fingers was already on stage.   It’s a bit of a bottleneck at the entry, between the ticket counter, bag chec

Rocksound, Resurrection, and Repose

EDIT: So sorry this wasn't posted on Tuesday morning as intended.  My fur child was injured by apparently stepping on some broken glass/ceramic.  Thankful to my Kindergoths that took good care of him.  Now home from work waiting to see how his night went. Alright, so I kept seeing this post blow up my Instagram....and, I'm very impressionable...especially when it involves Ronnie Radke.  So, when I saw that he was going to be on the cover of Rocksound, I was stoked...and was probably going to buy it anyway.  THEN, I saw that they had released: ROCK SOUND ISSUE 232.2 - FALLING IN REVERSE DELUXE BUNDLE Exclusive to Rocksound, the epic bundle comes with: - LIMITED EDITION MAGAZINE COVERS - A POSTER PRINT HAND-SIGNED BY RONNIE RADKE - AN EXCLUSIVE PIN BADGE - AN EXCLUSIVE TOTE BAG - A  HUGE  STICKER SHEET So naturally, I am impulsive...and bought it...on my way home from the dentist.  I had my phone in one hand and a DQ Pumpkin Pie Blizzard in the othe

Snack Attack: Toffifay Review

Image
I’ve been seeing the enticing commercial for the candy “Toffifay,” this European-looking delicate little caramel-hazelnut ball. After doing a bit of research it looks like Toffifay is owned by a company called “Storck,” which also produces some of my favorite brands: Werther’s Original, Merci, Mamba Fruit Chews, and Riesen. The candies, which remind me of Ferrero Rocher, come 4 to a package. Wrapper describes them as “A whole hazelnut | Caramel | Hazelnut Cream | Chocolate” First impressions:  I do love the package tray that they come in.  Being gold and white, it looks a bit like a gift. They were sitting flush in the gold plastic insert, which made it  fairly difficult to remove them.  I got this particular pack for $0.98 cents at a Walmart. They were cute little bites, but boring. The hazelnut was flavorful, thankfully, because the cream was bland, and the chewy soft caramel shell had a nice texture, but left a less than appealing aftertaste. All-in-all… ⅖

Splat! Bold Hair Dye Review

Image
The product I purchased was Splat: Rebellious Colors in the color “Pure Sapphire”  and started out the process with dyed black hair, that has been dyed a few times in a row.  So, really set in dye to begin with. If I had just this box, which I purchased from Walmart for ~ $9.18, I would not have had this good of results.  If you are starting from dyed black hair I suggest professional bleach, or a professional toner to get rid of the orange.  I actually had an additional packet of Lightening Bleach and bottle of Splat Oxide from when my sister touched up her hair color a few months back. On Day 1, I bleached my hair for the first time, leaving the dye on for about an hour.  The majority of my hair lightened to a medium-dark copper.  The roots of my hair, which I put bleach on last (to no avail) still came out lighter than the rest of it.  I washed the bleach out with just water. My hair felt very much like straw...or the frayed end of a shoelace, not too pleasant. On D

Motionless in White's "Graveyard Shift" details & review

Image
Good Morning, Kindergothlings.   My drive home from work looked a bit like a scene from "Silent Hill," intermittent patches of crazy dense fog. Still curious as to where I work, take a look at my latest Insta post (@Miz_Motionless) for a hint. Anyway, my mom is still super sick today, and not eating at all, which worries the hell out of me.  For those that haven't read yet on one of my social media sites, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer last Thanksgiving, and has recently started her second round of chemo.  Looks like this round is going to keep her continually nauseous.   Alright, dolls, on to the main event....as I eat my pop-tart.... :D  Motionless in White!  I'll be honest, I'm new to them.  2017 has been a crazy chain of musical exploration...behold a brief timeline/flowchart: Its Black Friday (longtime fan, actually discovered her with this video) Social Repose ( Reacted to one of Black Friday's videos) Andy Black/Biersack

Here are some pics from last night's Motionless in White show. I'm bummed that we weren't able to be there. These pics weren't sent to me through Insta, if I can find the OPs, I'll post photo creds. So, I dyed my hair.  Most of it is now on my skin.  Yea, I look like an avatar.  Sorry for the lack of post really today.  I haven't gotten much sleep, and I have to work tonight.  This is a chemo week for my mom, and its hitting her really hard today, she's been sick all day.  Right now she is curled up on the couch with all of the animals.  2 cats and a pug.  There is another dog, but its a Great Pyrenees, so she's outside. I've been hearing about the band "The Crüxshadows" lately, as well as other traditionally "Goth" artists, might try and give them a go.  We are still waiting to get tickets for the BVB/Asking Alexandria 2018 tour with no such luck.  praying that VIP tickets are still available next week!

Boxstore BS & MiW @ The Cleveland Agora

Good Morning, Kindergothlings! How is everyone doing on this dreary morning here in the US? <<Begin Rant; Scroll to skip>> So, last night was one of the shittiest nights I have had at work since I have been there.  For those of you that don't know, I work at xyz big box store, usually sorting and stocking, but also filling in for cashiers.  A typical night there are at least 3 people. Two to run our registers and then me.  But last night, I was filling in for a cashier on vacation, and our sort/stock called in...So, she's probably going to get fired. So once our other cashier shut down for the night, she filled in for sort/stock..BARELY. She did not stop bitching.  I ended up having to do her sorting AND watch for lines at my register. The rest of the night passed by in a frustrating and painful blur.  When I was relieved by a first shift cashier, I was fucking out of there.  And if they think I'm going to kill all of the overtime I worked the other day, h

Car Wash Hell

I'm kinda loving this gloomy gray day.  If there's one thing I hate more than rain, it's the sun...of course. So, I put the first scratch, or set of scratches rather, into my new car.  "Echo"  is a 2013 Kia Soul that I bought on New Year's Day.  Now, I'm a super careful driver, but apparently after 8 nights in a row, car washes are my hell. I pulled into the apparently narrower than expected pathway to go into the car wash and scrubbed my car against the blue..idk what you call it.  I call it a hump.  Sometimes they are in front of gas pumps to keep people from getting too close....also me. Anyway, I scrubbed again that, and didn't get to see the damage until I got home. The car needed a bath, as we were driving to see Falling in Reverse that night.  I tried to shove my last $5 into the slot and: no luck.  I opened my car door and tried to squeeze out of the small gap and cash it in for quarters when the owner came up to me and of course got m

Avelina De Moray, and a bit of "Goth" trivia

Image
I missed Friday's post.  It has been a crazy week between work, and still reeling from the FiR show, so I'm backdating this post.  After getting paid, I did check off one of my coffin-list items....see what I did there?   Anyway, I put my down payment on my first Avelina De Moray handbag.  NEVER in my life have I spent more than $18 on a handbag.....and that was just half of my down payment. The bag itself was designed in cooperation with Frejya McCleod, better known as "It's Black Friday," whom I have previously mentioned.  Its all black (and Vegan!) with a gorgeous red lining. I felt really drawn to this bag and have been wanting to expand my wardrobe for quite some time.  Black pants and band shirts can only get you so  far. So yea, put the down payment on that--gonna be a Christmas present to myself.  There aren't too many bag pre-order slots available so if you're interested in the bag, or any of Avelina's other bags:

Falling in Reverse+ @ Marathon Music Works (10.4.17)

Image
THE SET-UP Marathon Music Works is a pretty big place.  I guess the entirety of the old Marathon Motor Works car factory actually spans about 3 blocks.  We got there at 5:30 and got a nice spot in line on the 1st block (1402 Clinton St.) Got into the building in about 15 minutes and then doors opened at 6.  Everyone obviously rushed to the front of the stage.  My crew had VIP “Tito’s Lounge Experience”  wristbands so we were seated in an area to the left above the stage.  There were about 10 bar tables, a Tito’s bar, private bathroom and A/C.  I know we’d probably get shit from “True fans” for not being down in the pit but, fuck it, it was awesome. The radio was playing some Motionless in White, so I was in my little happy place. Looking around there were two additional bars on either side of the stage, as well as a smoking porch exit and a Tacos & Beer stand in the back.  So yeah, you could definitely get hammered if you tried. We started off with 2 drink
