Gun Violence & Candy

Gun Violence & Candy

I want to preface this with the fact that, despite the title, I mean in NO way to poke fun at, or downplay the severity of this tragedy.  I do this only to tie it into the rest of the post. That being said, I was going to post vacation pictures, but in the wake of Sunday’s tragedy it seems like none of that matters anymore.  For those that live under a rock, or choose not to watch the news--no disrespect, I wish I could disconnect sometimes.

At an outdoor Las Vegas Strip concert, a gunman located down the strip in his hotel room, opened fire.  58+ people were killed and over 500+ were injured.  Once again, not to downplay the severity, but this total is a miracle in relation to the 20,000 concertgoers in attendance.

We saw this on the Monday morning news as we were packing up to leave our mountain resort.

It was nice to get away.  When I’m going where people don’t know, me I have two settings: “All the Goth” and “Actual Trash.”  I displayed both of these this weekend.

Friday

We got in super late, unpacked and grocery shopped.  Boooooring.

Saturday

I went full Goth, despite the heat I was not expecting.  My gothling, "Weevip (AKA @one_larva_stage_weevip on insta) and I waiting by the bus stop with my makeup feeling like it was going to melt off.  Saturday was brought to you by grunge goth when I got out the the shower and I realized I had no makeup brushes, no setting spray, and would have to steal a hairbrush off my sister xD

Hollywood Star Cars. Coolest experience ever if you like cars, or movies, or just spending time with people enjoying the same thing! Literally something for everyone, including funny looks if you're dressing like I do.

Dinner at the Loco Burro and then...
Honestly, the highlight of the weekend was kinda the Spa House in the center of the resort. Gah, I'm a basic bitch. Saunas, Spas, and a Not-so-heated-as-advertised Indoor/Outdoor pool. Neato.

Sunday
Culture day! Sort of, we drove around an artists’ community, thankfully some of which were open on Sundays.  Met some really cool people: potters, photographers, glassblowers, etc. Very cool. Lunch at some lame farm-town-picnic looking burger joint. mediocre. Napalm buffalo chicken.

Then, a trip through the Salt & Pepper Shaker Museum, which triggered my inner geek. This place had been featured on the show "Unwrapped" in 2006 and featured over 20,000 sets of shakers. We made sure to stop in, as Bex is starting her own shaker collection here at home. More pictures to come soon when I have more time to edit.
"Midna" showing off in "The Covered Bridge of the Glades."
I was trying to be aesthetic, and told her to either pose or move it.

We stepped out of our comfort zone to try a "7D Adventure" I don't want to give too much away, but it was kind of insane, and definitely worth the money.  I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it or not.
Ripley's Haunted Adventure/Coffin Factory Show

All-in-all, it was a great weekend, I got some cheap souvenirs, some good handmade candy, memories-of course.  I read a little mit more through my new copy of "It."  And, unfortunately had to return to work last night after getting home at 3:30 and having to be awake for work at 7:30!

So, I am off to bed you guys.  Tomorrow, Sam and I have VIP/Tito's Lounge Experience tickets to Falling in Reverse @ Marathon Music Works.  Definitely going to update you guys on that Thursday afternoon or Friday morning, depending on how late the show runs.
