Why I Left Buzzfeed...

If you haven't been under an internet rock, chances are: you've seen something from BuzzfeedTasty, Nifty, etc.  Buzzfeed is the monopoly of the Youtubes, and well, the internet in general.

I can no longer scroll through Facebook without seeing things like "Pick 3 pieces of fruit and we'll tell you which Disney princess you'd be most likely to sacrifice during a full moon."

I used to LOVE being a part of the Buzzfeed community! (before most of my favorite creators left) Honestly! I loved it during the early days of "Ladylike" and "The Try Guys," (before they had their own Youtube RED series BS) After about two years, Safiya Nygaard, the co-creator of "LadyLike" left Buzzfeed to pursue creating her own fabulous content without restrictions.  Another one of my favorites who chose to break away from Buzzfeed is Chris Reinacher.  During and after his "Why I left Buzzfeed" video, he seemed to absolutely glow once he was developing content on his own Youtube channel.  His breakout video got nearly 4 million views to-date.

More recently, we've been seeing some more problems from the Buzzfeed world..  Months ago,  they absolutely were the "HUB" if you will. They were everywhere, and you saw it on Buzzfeed first.  Whether it was a recipe, a trend, or a challenge--it took the internet by storm after its upload.  But, more and more often, we are seeing Buzzfeed being the last to post on a given topic, or even worse, to "develop" whole series that...we're already fans of.

My first experience with this is Jaclyn Glenn, gorgeous Youtuber whose brand new series, "A Skeptics Guide to Wellness" was just recently binge-posted to the Fullscreen App.  She found that Buzzfeed had a couple videos that just about mirrored those of her show.  Not only do the timelines just not add up but, once Jaclyn tried to respond to these so badly timed videos, she was treated like shit.  Getting run-arounds, pre-rehearsed answers, and bitchy "creators" that seemed to just be upset that they got caught--spouting off with lines PUBLICLY like Kelsey Darragh's "Sorry you're not that memorable I guess." Fucking bitch, imo,

The next creator that I want to mention briefly Caitlyn Doughty, creator of "Ask a Mortician" and author of the bestselling book Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory.  She was featured on Buzzfeed for the first time in the summer of 2015, and has since grown her channel "Ask a Mortician," which definitely opens a interesting dialogue about that which we should not speak...Now, onto "Ask an undertaker" --Buzzfeed came out with a video the first week of November: "Undertakers Answer Googled Questions About Death."  I get that there's a ton of topics out there--blah, blah, blah. You can't own a topic. But, that's kind of her thing.....her whole series is answering FAQs about death for death enthusiasts, and I will 100% be doing a complete feature on her one of these days because I enjoy her content so much.  It has definitely taught me a lot and given me much to think about.

So, they aren't crimes to be fought with a firing squad, but they are enough.  While, I do still enjoy Tasty videos.  I think I'm just done with Buzzfeed.  They're over-hyped, overdone...and the content just isn't all that great anymore.  In conclusion, unsubscribed.

Sorry for the bit of clickbait guys, it's been on my mind for a couple days.  Lastly, if you haven't done so already, be sure to check out the new single "Sly Dog" from Demi the Daredevil.  After getting a sneak peak at the track, I've almost completed my review and will have it for you guys on Friday, the 17th--after giving the mixed & mastered track my full attention.
